BOM is usually operated by the A343, VS are going to operate DEL with an A346 for the Winter but I wasn't aware they were going to do the same with BOM (but ISTBC on this), so I guess it will still be mainly the A343 for BOM.

Have a look here for seat ratings and which seats other VF's suggest, this will also show you which are overlooked etc.

Hi Ian,

Seats 1K - 5K all face the wall so you won't have the problem of the occassional eye contact with a stranger sitting opposite you.....:D

BOM is currently served by an A343. This is planned to stay like this for a while I believe. VS would like to operate an A346 but are held back by the airport taxi-ways at present.

BOM are said to be curing this problem soon - We may well see the A346 for the winter 2007 timetable as the demand is there for VS...:D

I can confirm that.... being in a hotel facing the airport right now, I am actually getting a good nights sleep due to restrictions on night flights whilst they resurface a runway and tinker with the taxiways.

[I was sure that on the news page (03/11) I saw A346 are flying LHR BOM from 31/10?? Am I going mad or did I dream it, and that could be possible seeings as I am now in my 36th hour without sleep...a common cold and I cannot sleep?? Even the hot toddies are not working.

It would be great to take my first A346 flight whilst travelling UC, I have heard that economy is pretty uncomfortable for the bigger chap? Thanks for all the replies, I will keep watching this space and hopefully I will get the A346?

I almost flew VS to BOM this Dec, but am now going BA. The choice was purely on the A343, I was not sure how much of the aircraft had been updated, even to the new (pre leather) PE seats. I was worried that it was going to be PE mark I, rather than mark II (ie on the 744s) or the leather mark III (on the A346s).

Tried signing up here to check but had technical probs... [:(]
If I was going UCS, then no question V all the way (I am too long for NCW, as I found out a couple of months ago on a red eye flight.

I wonder being Silver if I would have got an upgrade? The flight will be full as BMI have cancelled their flights (I am on their tix and they have transferred me to BA WTC)

Think you must of been dreaming! - As Rob has mentioned BOM has taxi way restrictions which means at the mo the A346 is to large, so I really wouldn't get your hopes up, sorry! I am sure you will still have a great flight in the UCS.

Some details here on the improvements that are taking place at BOM over the next 4 years.

Basic terminal improvements and much needed work on the runway and taxiways by around 2008. New lounges, VS CH is sure to be on the way soon......[y]

New terminal to be constructed by approx 2010....:D

Well, am just home from India on VS351 and I can confirm it is a 343. UC is of course the UCS.

Work on the taxiways very much in evidence to the degree that one runway was closed and lots of delays to all arriving and leaving flights.

While the airport is not that bad, it really does need updating, refurbishing and extending.

VS service today was A1 excellent, a great crew.

[:?] Not sure I agree with you when taking flights out of there at 4:30 in the morning and J being full so I was stuck in Y with no hope of retreating into the lounge.

The airport code says it all really, and I wish they would and start again!

Glad the service was good - did you see what the rest of the interior was like (in the other classes)?

OK understand, it's all relative though, try doing the same at Hyderabad!

As for the plane, UC was still smart, and very full (check in were seeking down grades), PE looked like the usual and I didn't go further back !
