Using Miles Plus Money

Sorry in advance if this has already been asked but I have just returned from my holiday flying with Virgin and have amassed enough points to book a flight with miles plus money giving an £1.1k saving on current prices.
I have already booked a villa in Orlando for next year so I am not flexible with my dates, the availability on the VA website has my out going date in August but the nearest return date is 3 days after I must return by. Is it likely that VA will release further seats for end of August/beginning of Sept 07 for this route?

Not until much nearer the time, but you can never tell. If someone cancel a hold or similar you may find them suddenly appear. I have also seen extra batches released during the year but do you want to be checking this each day?
How about booking yourself a flexible ticket that can be added to if you want. If you want to be in UC for instance why not book an S out (upgrade to G) and a J back which will get you in UC and if G returns suddenly become available you can change your J to an S (subject to availability of S) and upgrade to G.

One way J? Have we won the pools Paul? They cost a small fortune!
Rewards seats to MCO seem very thin on the ground, we had the exact same problem a month or so ago. You could try for a G to Miami? Otherwise i would look at buying an L or an S fare and upgrading with miles to J - that way you will have an upgradeable fare class and it will cost you a lot less than buying a one way fare, and save the hassle of refunding. Flying Club will do this straight away for the outbound sector but you'll have to keep checking for the return sector to see if any more reward seats have been opened up - a week before the flight a few more often get released if loads are not too high.
Also, dont forget that if you have no joy through Flying Club, upgrading on the day at the airport is always a potential option, and is usually a bit cheaper too.
Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks for the responses. I was trying to get the cheapest option to Orlando as I have just returned from the Caribbean and have very depleted funds!!. I will look into the Miami route as well, although I did notice that PE seats were available on the return but I donÕt have enough miles to cover this currently.
Many thanks

I booked miles plus money for Orlando flying out 20 December 2006, I only booked 4 weeks ago, I did try about a week before and was told to leave it about a week as sometimes they release somemore Miles Plus money seats. We had decided not to spend Christmas in Florida this year,as we had booked our home out for Christmas, but the people
who had booked our home had to change their vacation dates and beleive me I did not have to think twice, so looks like Christmas in Florida again this year.

Just thought that I would give an update. Looked at the VA website every day over the last 4 days and this morning my return date for the last weekend of school holidays became available. So I have booked - the price finally quoted was over £100 cheaper than that given on the select fights screen.
Therefore, the moral is not to give up trying.
