Hi,
Yes, I admit it [8)],
I bought the 12 place metal upper class cutlery set from theVS Pre order duty free serviceon Friday ( £99). Delivery is in 10-14 days.
I will also get FC Miles for the purchase:D
The agent said that the cultery set was proving popular.
There is a 6 place set also for around £ 69
Regards

Yes it is popular - too popular.
I hada set delivered a while ago whislt I was away on a trip - I asked my mum to pick the set-up for me from the delivery place; unfortunately her interpretation of 'pick it up' was to collect and actually take home.
Apparantly it was far too posh for me, and that I would never use it. So I'm now cutlery-less again

Thanks,
Richard

Whislt we're on metal - got a couple of the new planes from Retail Therapy. THey come in very nice tins, stmaped with the virgin typeface.
They are really nice and better than the previous ones. Just need to phone up now for the small Concorde model they can't sell on the flight.
Thanks,
Richard

Yeah, they're pretty cool. I bought "Hotlips" on my last flight - when I got back I rang up about the Concorde, apparently it's out of stock until end of Jan '04.
Cheers

Err yes about the Concorde - I phoned up VS and discovered this.
Only problem is that the company that was making the models has gone bankrupt according to the chicks in the DF department. So the bad news is that we may never actually be able to buy the VS branded Concorde model [:(!]
Thanks,
Richard

I just phoned up about this - got a pre-recorded message that it's still unavailable until March now, and to call back at the end of February. Will update then.
Cheers

I bought the 'A340-600 Cover Girl'. The model was very detailed and made by Gemini Jets. I pre-ordered this model on the pre-order line and it was delivered to me while I was in my seat on my outbound flight on the ironically A340-600. I also bought the previous models of the 747-400 and A340-300, they are not as detailed though.

Yeah, I had a glance at them today too - a little more expensive than the 18.50GBP + 2.50GBP P&P quoted in the Retail Therapy brochure too!

while we're on the subject of VAA branded models, I just bought a model of a VAA Airbus A380 super-jumbo.
It's very cool and gives a glimpse of what's to come in 2006 when Virgin starts taking delivery of their A380's.
Just on the VAA Concorde model, where are you buying these from?
Thanks.

Call the number on the Retail Therapy link, Concorde is now in stock limited to one per person, I ordered one and so did my wife well we are both FC members!

Got my invoice through this morning, interesting that where the Flying Club membership number is shown it still states Freeway No. Obviously they haven't updated their system - job for you pix?

Thanks for that Bazz - I have just ordered one.
They did confirm that it is one per person, but were quite happy to sell me one without taking FC details, so I am sure there would be ways round the rule for the people who seem to have bought loads and are dripping them onto Ebay, with bids reaching £100+ [:0]

Good spot - thanks for the update! I rang last night and left a message to order one, got a return phone call this morning to arrange payment details - all sorted

. Only downer is that I don't get any FC miles - presume that's because the cost is <£20 as I've only ordered the one.
BTW, would this payment qualify for the 4x AMEX Gold MR points?

Cheers

Despite the lady who took my order saying it may take up to four weeks, one Concorde arrived this morning! I am impressed, with the model and the service!
It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity stating it is a limited edition, limited to 2000 models.
Very nice it is!
Shame one never flew under VS colours.

I have changed the name of this thread as we seem to have moved off the Upper Class cutlery topic somewhat.

After spotting your message about it being limited to 2,000 models, I caved in and ordered one.
Hopefully I'll get delivery as speedy as yours!

On a technical point, would she have the nose up when the under-carriage is down? Just curious!
