Fellow travellers, could any of you assist me in a search for a good hotel on the VH books in Barbados. Looking at a visit in May with wife & child, just want some feedback on a good value for money all inclusive hotel.

Many thanks in advance

It really depends on your budget and the age of your child, but have stayed at the Almond Beach Village and Turtle Beach, the former being on the west coast and the latter on the south which may affect your decision.

More pools and facilities at the Almond Village and a better beach for children, but rooms are very small. The Turtle Beach is an all suite hotel, newer but the sea can get a bit choppy and so not as good for watersports.

I have stayed at a few other resorts VH feature, namely Crystal Cove and Colony Club but these aren't as good for children.

Junior is only 2, just want a chill out time really. Both of the hotels you mention are "in budget". Like all things in life, it started as a one week cheapy & we looked at "Escape at the Gap", as it's a good price!!!!

Almond beach is very good for children, We stayed there Nov 05 and had a great time. The children 3years & 6mths loved the creche. Food was only average at the restaurants. Also the suite we stayed in was really only 2 interconnecting basic rooms above the creche.Overall I would go again.

Almond Beach would also get my vote ... Although it's not cheap [:0]

Whatever you decide make sure you take time to go and swim with the turtles in Barbados ... One of the best experiences of my life :)

I've stayed at Turtle Beach, and there are indeed Turtles to be spotted. I didn't see one myself, but many other visitors did at night and many guests stay out late to spot them. When i was there they had a Kids Turtle Club, i remember as i was too old to join it. I'd certainly recommend the hotel, its all inclusive and the food was rather good - lots of Mounth Gay cocktails too! The BA crew stop there so it cant be too shabby, though as Jilly says, the water isn't as calm as it is on the other side of the Island.

Thanks,
Sarah

Stayed at Escape At The Gap for the last 2 years.
All you need in a cheap hotel. Good food, Excellent location. The beach is one of the best in Barbados. Only a 15 min transfer from the airport. Rooms are a basic, but the best ones are over in the Pirates Block with a pool view.

Hi Denzil - I was there 12 months ago and we stayed in the Hilton - it was fantastic for the kids - great kids club - plenty to do - food was great - I am going again this May and will stay at the Fairmont Pavillion , no report to tell you about there but its supposed to be fantastic

The Colony Club would not be my first choice with kids, it seems to be much more popular with coulples. Crystal Cove would be bettr but can't compare that to the other locations mentioned because we have not visited them.
