V-Flyer

I am taking my daughter to the US for her 8th birthday and booked Upperclass for the return. Any advice on the best seats to select? I know that UC is designed to offer privacy, but I would like to select two seats where my daughter will not feel on her own.

If you are on a 747 and 6A/K and 7A/K are gone or you are on a A346 you are far better going for an A/A or a K/K seating as the A and K seats become further apart as the cabin widens. I saw a couple who had gone for that arrangement thinking they were going to be sitting next to each other. As they were in the last row of UC the bar separated them! [:0]

If your daughter is in front ofyou it is relatively easy for her to pop her head over the divide or for her to hop onto the ottoman at your suite and remember you will be able to eat together at either her or your suite.

She will love it in any case and you will be condemned to booking UC forever

When I travelled with my two daughters (aged 8 and 9 at the time), we were sat in 6A, 7A, 7K. I think this was for safety reasons - I was supposed to be able to put both their masks on. I am not sure whether sitting A and K will be allowed at check in, especially when the seats are a long way apart.

We had a great time, and sat two to a seat, one on the ottaman at various stages of the journey. Cabin crew were lovely to the kids too.

Our 8 year old prefers economy to UC because there are more kids there. He enjoys finding children who haven't flown before so that he can explain to them what's happening, what the noises are, what flaps do etc.

Last time I caught him doing a " There I was at 5000 feet, two engines out, upside down and the wing on fire... "; he had to be hauled away before hysteria set in (of various sorts).

I think that A/A would be fine for you and your daughter - I wouldn't go for two opposite each other, apart from 6A/K on a 744.

We had a little'n on our flight to SFN in August and she was great no crying just ate and slept but you should have seen the faces of some of the other passengers when they come onboard you would have thought a bad smell had come up. I think its a similer subject of peoples rights like putting your seat back in recline whilst in Econ.
