How long does it take to get card in the post?

Hi

I joined the Flying Club on 1st January 2007 shortly before booking flights to SFO in November (with a return from LAX).

Will I get the membership card in the post before I travel and, if so, how long does it normally take to come after sign up?

Many thanks in advance
Steve

Hi there,

You'll get your card AFTER you have completed a qualifying flight, so dont hold out too long waiting for the postmans knock :)

Thanks,
Sarah

If I remember correctly, you will get the card after your first flight, I do stand to be corrected on that though.

Edit: HF says so as well so I must be right :D

Thanks to both of you - presumably this means that all the advice about presenting your card to any partner companies you book with will not apply on my first holiday?? :-(

You can still give them your NUMBER - which is the only important thing, really.

ISTR that when you sign up for Flying Club, you are offered the chance to print off a temporary membership card (if you want something to present to other companies). Although as others have said, all they'll want is the FC membership number.

And even if you don't have that if you keep invoices and receipts etc you can always "missing miles" them

Yep, we printed off our temporary FC membership cards when we signed up. I don't think we had to show them to anyone though, all they needed was the number.

I signed up to Flying Club at the same time as taking up the VS credit card. I received my Flying Club card a couple of months after before I had taken any qualifying flights.

Some frequent flyer programs operate a policy whereby you receive your permanent card after obtaining a certain threshold value of points. Maybe this is also the case with Flying Club?
