Upcoming Baggage Handler Strike

Does anyone know if the imminent baggage handlers dispute would hit VS? A newspaper article talked about BMI, Lufthansa and Singapore because they are handled by Aviana - who are apparently the people who are considering going on strike.

I have a couple of trips to the US coming up in the next month or so, and would really like to know if I'm likely to get hit by this; who does VS's baggage handling?

Welcome to V-Flyer! :)

I am told that VS uses Swissport to handle your baggage so you will be unlikely to be affected.

Yes I think it's Swissport at LHR and its certainly Groundstar at LGW. Could have been a whole lot worse as LGW used Aviance until a few months ago!!

I'm sure it was Aviance when we flew LGW-LAS in March, let's hope Swissport and Groundstar don't become embroiled in the dispute!

Plane Handling handle Virgin Baggage at LHR not swissport. Plane Handling is owned by Virgin.

Groundstar handle bags, and check in at LGW. All Groundstar check in Staff where Virgin Uniform but Groundstar name badges.
