We are flying to JFK, because we have booked with a travel agent we cant upgrade our flights??, we have spoke to Virgin and Last min.com and we will have to ask at check in.
So we are thinking of doing online check in. However, once we have checked in online are we unable to ask for any available upgrades at the actual airport.
We dont know the best thing to do. Its my birthday so we fancy having a treat.

Providing there is availability in the class you want to upgrade to then you can upgrade at the airport even if you have used OLCI.

Hi Catherine,
I would use OLCI, at least you will guarantee to get the seats you want, you can always change them at the airport if you go to the desk. Also if there is space VS will happily take your money off you if you want tomove forward.
If you have a cheap tickets which is non-upgradeable you will have to pay the difference between the existing fare and a upgradeable one, then the fare difference between the existing class and the new cabin grade you want, can be expensive. Or you can get on the plane and pay the extra on the plane, if there is availability, even pricier.
If we knew which flight and what ticket code you were flying I am sure there is someone who would be able to tell you if this is possible without costing a small fortune.
New York is quite a short flight so have a few 'liveners' and forget what is infront of the curtain!

OLCI in no way effects any upgrade you have - complimentary of paid.
In fact whenever you upgrade you are always checked into your original class of travel first, then the upgrade is actioned, so you're helping them out a bit!
