Hi
I have bought a friend a ticket on a flight that I will also be travelling on and have been sent his paper ticket (which states on it 'check in required'). I've still got his ticket and it might be a problem getting it to him.
I may meet him airside and so wanted to check that either I can check him in online and then email him his boarding pass or he can check himself in.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

I presume that you are both flying VA.
If so you could check him in on line but you will need his DOB, passport number and the expiry date and there may be some other details needed depending on where you are flying to.
Boarding cards are not printed so you will both need to collect them up at the airport when you drop of any luggage you may have.

You may also want to consider leaving his paper ticket with the landside VS ticket desk, and asking him to pick it up from them? I suspect you may want to call Virgin just to check that's ok with them too (I can't think of any particular security risk associated with doing so)

Thanks for the quick replies. Am flying to HK - assume that his passport no, expiry date on passport and his DOB will be all I need to know to check him in?
Also, presumably once I've checked him in virgin will email me confirmation, which I can then forward to him. Will this email be sufficient for him to drop his luggage off and pick up his boarding card or do I need to leave the paper ticket for him as well?

I am pretty sure that he will need his paper ticket - but I stand to be corrected...

I'm pretty certain that your friend will need to have the paper ticket on them at check-in, in order to get a boarding pass, and get airside.

If the booking is actually Paper Ticketed, the passenger requires that Paper Ticket for travel. If it a paper copy of an E-ticket, they do not require the ticket, just the itinerary.

You don't need pasport details to check in on line to HKG so that wont be a problem and it's common for people to be checked in on line by someone else, normally a secretary!
The other passenger will however need the paper ticket to check in, there's no way getting around that unfortunately.
