I heard a rumour that as part of the new Marriott Hotel partnership that VS had sent out a promotion to gold members for higher level initial membership of Marriott Hotel's elite membership programme and faster movement through their tiers. I stupidly deleted the e-mail about it.....[:I]

Does anyone have the details and weblinks needed??

Cheers

I have the full email - but cut and pasted the relevant portion below - I think it's the one you are referring to.

Hi All

Does anyone know if the extra points and accelerated gold will apply to existing Marriott Rewards members ? I already have silver elite and would qualify straight away for gold under these new rules or is it only for new members ?

Cheers

Mark :D

Marriott is very fair about granting free nights in its points program; so, this is a good deal if you travel frequently enough. Plus, on a comparison basis Marriott puts out a consistent quality product.

I have n't received anything from Virgin about this, and right now, I'm 35 days in on the way to 50. Would like to know if this applies to existing Silver Elite members.

I think the key phrase here is 'new member'

Triple rewards is good, 5 stays would normally equate to 30 nights for me anyway. Gold with Marriott may bring better rooms, but basically it's an extra 5% points and free breakfast.

Marriott Platinum is truly platinum. It's 75 nights per year to get there but for the real "road warrior" Marriott provides upgrades, admission to concierge floor breakfast bar, newspaper.
