FVC LGW - BGI Offer

In the post last week from FVC I received an offer of a free UC upgrade if I bought a return PE ticket to the carribean (or was it only Barbados?) ex LGW for this summer.
Anyhow, regardless of the details (and though it's mentioned on the website, there's no detail..), it struck me as a bit odd as I'd always thought they did good UC business on these routes ?

I just saw that too, I'll give them a call.
Thanks,

It is indeed only for FVC members.
It only applies to BGI for departures between 1st July and 31st August (and travel must be booked before 30th June).
Basically, if you pay to upgrade both legs to PE, FVC will upgrade either the outbound or return to Upper free (subject to avaialblility of course). Only applies to flights to/from LGW.
Thanks,
Richard

Thanks for the clarification.
Still surprises me a little that there's any spare UC capacity on this route given it's an LGW configured aircraft with a limited number of UCS.

I would guess that BGI is not the most popular destination during the UK summer, its very hot and humid out there during July/August with Oct - March the most popular time to visit the Caribbean, so this might be a incentive to get people to make some bookings, if they are struggling whilst tempting them to maybe book UC next time around.

Fair point but over the past 3 years of heading that way at that time of year none of the flights have been noticably at less than capacity (well, at the back of the bus anyhow).
Perhaps there's a tendency for UCS to be loaded more one way (probably outbound) as people start the holiday / wedding trip / honeymoon with a big treat but take PE on the way back. I know PE is popular on these routes (none available for our trip to Antigua @ year end) so perhaps this is a way of distributing the load.

All of this is pure speculation driven by my mind trying to find something to occupy it whilst the progress indicator on my screen says "2 hours 50 minutes 35 seconds to complete your query..." Lord preserve me from clients who think you can deliver MI efficiently on an OLTP schema...

I'm sure I remember a crew member on here saying that BGI was getting a LHR B744 A/C sometime over the summer for a month or so.
With all those extra J seats and fewer W seats probably means VH are making use of the extra J capacity.
Experflyer seat maps do show a LHR B744 config for many dates in July.
