Fluctuating airline taxes

Having been watching the PE return ORD fares for the last week now online, I've noticed the tax does change on a daily basis. For example PE fares to ORD for September:
Tuesday - the tax was £194.20
Wednesday - it went upto £204.20 [:0]
Today - it's down to £184.20
Didn't want to chance leaving it any longer so booked the fare today as I dont think the tax will drop any more.
That's the other thing, remember the days when airline tax was < £100!!!
Does anyone know why the tax changes on a daily basis please?
Regards

Worth pointing out that this is taxes and fees.

I would not expect exchange rates to vary the taxes by such a huge amount - a £20 difference over 2 days is definitely not due to exchange rates. Surely some mistake.

Ahhh, but a imagine that the rates are maked-up. Possibly they did update the taxes either.

Yea when I went to Argentina I was on a full flex ticket. I had to change my dates on the return. No addtional fare but addtional taxes due to the exchange rate flux

I've never heard of that before. If one has already paid then why does one need to pay any more due to currency exchange fluctuations? That is most strange.

The site is screwed at the moment, it appears to have rolled back to an old version as it's still showing the launch dates for ORD and NBO.... useless.

Hmmm, however a £20 variation could mean a 10% - 20% swing in exchange rates in a day - that doesn't happen. If Richard is correct and it's an error I wonder how many people pay over or under?

Looking at the bill now, the F@#$ing travel agent refunded then bought a one-way ticket (priced in Argentina Pesos). They have recently started doing this it seams on all of our people. And the agency has been charging us $25.00 to book a new ticket. Well time for a refund and new travel agency.
