Does anyone know what happens in terms of transfers for Virgin Holidays from Antigua airport to the hotels - in particular is it a shared bus/taxi which drops everyone off at other hotels as well, or do they just pop you in a taxi on your own?
If it's shared then does anyone know whether you can just jump in a taxi yourself and make your own way to the hotel without any problems then trying to check in?
Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon,
We were in Antigua in February staying at Sandals - the airport is the usual confusion of the Carribbean!!!
We were put in a 6 person taxi( they are all this size!!) which dropped off one couple at the Rex next door to the Sandals and the rest of us were then driven to Sandals. You also get any blurb or info from the VH rep at the taxi pick up.
You can get a taxi on your own but to be honest the best bet is to buy a beer at teh bar by the taxi area and then just jump in the taxi /minibus they allocate you - the resorts are not to far and its no hardship!!!
On the way back use the Check In Chill out programme and your bags leave at 10-30 - 11 a.m and you can get a few more hours sun/drinking in b4 the flight home.
Be warned, Antigua airport aint huige and it gets a bit sticky and stuffy if you are there to early - the Cricketers ( is that teh correct name) Hotel just across for the airport is apparently the place to hang out til the last minute with a couple of cold ones!!
Where you staying and when you going?
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For 2005 bookings, if you are flying Upper Class to any Caribbean destination booked with VH you will get private transfers to/from the airpoort at your destination. I don't think we are talking limos here but I guess a pre-arranged taxi or mini-bus.
I cannot see a problem in making your own way to/from the airport just as long as you tell the VH rep waiting to meet you exactly what your are doing, otherwise they could spend some time looking for you.
When you book online you do get the option of choosing transfers or not at the time of booking.

We are flying UC but a year too early by the sounds of things!
We arrive at about 2ish so we wanted to get to the beach as soon as possible, so I think we'll jump in a taxi ourselves.
On the way back, do you know if there is a lounge available?
We go next Wednesday.
Just on the off chance someone will know - we are staying at jolly harbour villas, which we have stayed at before. It has two "fingers" of villas, north and south - how would we go about asking to be on the South finger? Should we call Virgin, wait till we get there or phone the hotel direct?

Just to let you know if your travelling with VH and booked in UC then you will get a private transfer even this year.
Been to ANU with VH twice this year and both times private transfers (airport to resort only) other people where travelling to our resort they arrived around 1 hour after we did, all you have to do is make the ground agents aware you came in on UC (a ton of luggage all with UC and gold tags on sort of gave us away!!) and they will grab a private taxi for you.

Hi Simon,
If you mean next Wednesday 4th August, I am on the same flight V033. I should be in seat 6A.
You will not have to share a taxi with me, as I am flying on to Nevis. Hope to see you on the flight/clubhouse.

Hi eurohill
We are on the same flight so see you Wednesday!
According to this site, 6A seems reserved for those special virgins so I shall be practicing my bow in the meantime. Any tips on how to make the best of UC, as we've not flown anything like this before?

Being Gold does help to get the front row seats! Just get to Gatwick early to enjoy the Club House and whats on offer. I am sure the Virgin Team on board will ensure we will have an excellent trip. See you on Wednesday.
