New seating changes on LHR 747's

Just has a look at my seating allocation for my flight to SFO on expert flyer in November and it's now showing the new configuration. Looks like the 747's will have been refitted by then.

Below I've listed the rows as shown on 747-400 configuration 4 on the VS web site. In brackets are the rows that do not seem to be available according to expertflyer.
Upper: Rows 1-25 (missing rows 1,2,6,7,12,14,20,21)
PE: Rows 28-37 (missing 28,29,30)
Econ: Rows 39-66 (missing 39,40,41,42,43,44,45,46).

I've just tried to access my seat on "manage your flights" and it just shows a blank map. I am assuming they are in the process of updating the page.

Just checked my trip to JFK in December - The seat map for that is also showing the new config.

My existing seating request has been carried over to the new config which is good news...:D

Damn, I was living in hope they had decided this was a bad idea and would scrap it!, no more upstairs PE flights ex LHR then [n].

Looks like Pete will have to create a new Seat Map for V-Flyer as well.

ExpertFlyer does not always show the correct configuration.

One less reason to choose VS over other airlines if I can't sit upstairs in PE. [:(!]

That's true, however, I think in this case it's correct as my PE seat has been moved from 74k to 31k.

Now the question is do I want to travel downstairs or is the credit card coming out in order to move up.

i have a PE flight in october on vs10. which initially was a 71a seat upstairs now currently shows as 20d (window - as per booking page) but it says that the seating map is unavailable and ..assigned..check in..

that would be rather disappointing not having PE ustairs anymore.
(not sure what to make of the new 20d seat??)

Are you sure you have the correct number as 20d on the 747 shows as a non window UC seat.
If the aircraft is a A346 then 20d would be in PE but not by the window.

steve -

yes. the booking page is probably a bit buggy while the seating is being reassigned? Will have to wait and see.
now i hope that the flight is a 747 and that the new seat is correct. He he. Fingers crossed.

This could explain my problem. We booked our trip at the weekend which included return LAX to LHR. I chose our seats the next day and checked the details - all ok. Today it doesn't recognise my booking and I have checked spellings etc. My booking is ok on the VH site so I guess I still have it!!:D I am now thinking it is being reconfigured or whatever.

Umm - why? It's not as if BA offer it [?]

For those interested, here's the direct link for the seating plan.

54J, 62W, the rest Y (but a MUCH smaller Y cabin)

Why? Because I might get stuck with an E or F seat. My point is really that there is fewer reasons to pick VS other other carriers if others are cheaper or even similar.

Well my booking is back up with seats selected for us whjich I don't think I want. I had chosen 7 and 8a, in front of the IFBT, and they have given us 22a & d, which on the new map is back in the rows of 4 seats!

Are there any suggestions for good seats now? Would you go upstairs on this new configuration?

Grr, it won't let me change my seats and I don't want what they have given us! Should I phone and where should I phone? There is no map.

The new layout kinda reminds me of the PE on the old 742s, 4 abreast in the middle, and I don't recall it being a problem but now I hate being in the middle of the three centre PEs on the 340s.

25 rows of 4 abreast UC...and I complained about the A346 config[V]

The only cabin that vaguely benefits is Y with fewer seats. VS, this is awful.[n]

Where do you get 25 rows of 4 abreast in UC? I can only see 4 rows viz. 20 - 23. Am I missing something?

Cheers, HL[:I][y]

I hadn't seen the link, only read "rows 1-25" and thought of the worst[:I]

Now, having looked at the seat-map, UC seems alright. Unfortunately I can't say the same for PE[:#]

That is an interesting seating plan, as Paul said above, 54J, 62W and I count 228Y. Do we know if this is going to be adopted across all the LHR 744s? Pity that most of the new W cabin seats will now be over the wing.

Yes, unfortunately [n] You are right also with the number of Y seats, here is the original thread from last year when the new config was first announced.

Should be some time next month when the first plane is out of refit. Would be good to see some pictures, though i guess its a replication of the existing UC suites on the upper deck.

Thanks,
Sarah

We have only been in downstairs UC suites(Man-MCO), so it would be good to see a picture of upstairs to compare. As yet I still have the choice of upstairs or in the nose for our flight.
