V-Flyer

Just checked my online seat allocations today and have found that on my outbound flight (VS1) in September, myself and my partner have been moved from the seats we selected at time of booking (using the online seat selection tool).

We're now on the opposite side of the plane, further forward and directly over the wing.

Not 100% happy as I had picked seats where we would be able to see the ground.

Oh well, I suppose it does list your seat choices as 'preferences', so VS can shift you round etc. Kinda annoying though all the same.

Nope. the seats we were in are now greyed out. Only single seats left available.

Where we're sitting isn't TOO bad, currently 37 J+K (at least we'll be closer the front of the plane for getting off in NYC to face the US immigration services etc), but I really like being able to see the ground and aren't really that happy about being stuck on the wing. Oh well, perhaps I could sort something out at check-in.

Maybe I'll go for seats 30 A+B or J+K Not sure what my chances of success would be though!

We're in 63 A+C on the return leg (VS2), so a nice twin seat at the back of the plane. Extra legroom at side of seats for that night flight home

You might try a call to Flying Club? For the sake of the cost of a call and a bit of your time, they may be able to help.

If you check-in early enough and are prepared to pay the £50 per seat per leg you could go for the exit rows.

Your return should be okay, rows 61 through 64 where the config drops from 3-4-3 to 2-4-2 if you get one of the pairs, is much better and after the exits are my favourite seats in coach on the 744.

A small warning about those seats (my friends had them on a United 744):

1. You'll be the last off the aircraft especially if you're on the right hand side. This can be frustrating when your destination has long queues for immigration.
2. There's no additional legroom, just extra side space (which is still nice of course).
3. People tend to congregate in that area for the lavatories.

With regard to the immigration queues and being last off the plane, I'm not too bothered as it'll be on the return leg. Never have many long queues getting back into LHR

Last off the plane also means less of a wait at baggage reclaim

The only ratings the rear, twin seats have appear to be good.

However, I am going to ask at check-in in both directions to see if there is any possibility of moving to a bulkhead seat or something.

What site did you use for online seat allocation, I have not received my tickets yet( booked thru VH). Can I go online to pre book UC seats. As I am abroad I don;t have any ref no. Travelling 22/9. Is it too early yet?
