LAS to SFO or OAK??

More questions for the gurus.[oo]
LAS to SFO or OAK??? Six passengers in total flying at the end of August 2008. We'll be staying just off Union Square in San Francisco. Not a lot of difference price wise (or flight departure time) between the two with US Airways (VX only showing flight availability up to April). Did the journey back to SFO last year from LAS but we were connecting to the VS020 so it was the only sensible option then. Now we're returning to San Francisco and have 4 nights there before flying home (we'll be picking up a vehicle regardless of which airport we arrive in to). I like visiting new airports (sad I know[y], and have not used OAK). Which option do I take?

I'd wait until VX release their pricing, then grab 6 x first class ;) Oh, ok - coach is ok too, and it's only 1hr20...

But if it's novelty in airports rather than airlines you're after, then Oakland would appear to be the better option.

OAK is a small airport, and therefore quick to get in and out of, doesn't have the frills of SFO. My recollection from last time I flew through there was 'very basic', but that was about four years ago.

Still very basic, Mike. On a par with the facilities at San Jose.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm used to small airports and "very basic" is fine.I don't need the fripperies or finery on a hopper-I just want to get into the city as fast as I can. In my book small airport means small queues at car rental and bags off and collected reasonably quickly.

OAK can be a b!tch to be to using public transport if there is a Raiders or A's game as both the airport and the stadiums share the same BART station. That said, OAK rocks. Take it any day over SFO.

Don't you just love the way GJ paint's a picture with words [:I]

OAK is still under going a lot of construction work, either way it is going to be a bit of a hike into the city, I prefer SFO just because you can grab a car and be on the freeway in minutes.
