Hi Hope someone can help me, I want to book flights for 2 adults to vegas 02/07/08 -17/07/08 Economy ~ at the moment the price is 616 each. Does anybody know when July 08 flights will get cheaper or even better go in a sale ~ I'm sure I saw them on sale last year but can't remember what time of year they reduced them.

Any help advice greatly appreciated

Welcome to V-Flyer.

Sorry to be vague, but sales come and sales go - what happened last year doesn't mean the same thing will happen this.

I wouldn't expect any massive price cuts to Vegas in July.

Vegas direct is a very popular route, and July sees the start of the big holiday season.

You could try looking at going from LHR to SFO or LAX and then taking an internal flight to Vegas.

The price seems about right, you may want to look at flying into LAX then catching a flight up to Vegas

If you choose VS, flying into LAX / SFO will also grant you access to aircraft with the V-Port video on demand in flight entertainment system as you'll be flying out of LHR. Direct to LAS puts you on the LGW fleet, which has older, more restricted, systems.

It can make a difference on an 11 hour flight...

Thanks for taking time to reply. I only want a direct flight so looks like i'll have to wait and see what happens and if not pay the full price. I've phoned virgin and they said there is good availability on the flight at the mo ~ although not sure how many seats are left ~ Are there any virgin staff members who use this forum that can check how many seats sold on those flights??

Flights are vs43 02/07/08 and vs44 17/07/08 for 2 in Economy

Once again thanks for your help

Bluesky, try expertflyer.com. This will give you availability as well as a seat map of individual flights

Currently those flights are 'wide open' with about 70 seats taken in coach.

Sorry Bluesky was a bit rude of me not to check for you. Currently showing excellent availability in all classes.
One thing worth noting if you could fly a couple of days earlier the price is only £546.70 each.

Hi,

I'm also looking to fly to Vegas in Oct 08 (12/10 - 24/10) in PE.

Current price on Virgin website is £1160; will the price be cheaper later on in the year?

Cheers,
P

Maybe a little, but not much, that seems to be about the going rate.

Last year, we ended up booking a sale fare to LAX and then down on Southwest to LAX. The day before the sale, an econ to LAX and PE back from LAX was over £1000, and then the sale came around we got LAX PE return for just over £600. Much better all round, and the better entertainment makes a huge difference I think to such a long flight! Unless you really have to go direct....

VS have no issues selling seats to LAS, so less need to have a sale. LAX has more competition, hence the sale fares being more regular.

Thanks for the replies.

When do the PE sale fares go on sale for flights in October?

not sure when (or if) sales might occur.

What i would say is that as October is 'Half Term' period, it is more than likely that prices for all potential holiday destinations will remain high for much of the month.

I wish the original poster luck in finding a good price.

I'm trying to get from LAS to LGW in April and have been waiting for a possible sale now for months but nothing has shown up...and I don't expect it to at this stage. Am considering Southwest to LAX instead for a better price. Never experienced the better entertainment systems on the A346 - the 747 LAS-LGW is good enough IMO! How much better is it?

All the info about the different IFE systems can be found on this page.

I think most V-Flyers would agree V-Port is a lot better than Odyseey/Nova. Way more choice, start/stop/pause when you want, loads of music, games etc etc.

To the extent that later teenage offspring preferred flying Economy to LA (V-Port) than Premium Economy to LAS (Nova / Odyssey).

Just checked; half term's the final week in October and luckily I'm planning to travel the two week's before that.

Will keep checking the fares regularly. Thanks for the replies.

Last year, MAXjet were also flying London to Las Vegas with their business class only product at a stupidly cheap price (often lower than VS's Economy fare). As MAXjet have gone out of business (damm shame, but given their seat prices, not a huge shock!), Virgin have no competition on the London -Vegas route, so the seats will very rarely go on sale.
