Am I allowed to do it?

Hi, first post on here, I have visited the site many times and found it very useful but never posted.... Anyway to the point.

I have a flight booked LHR-KUL-MEL return with Malaysian Airlines.

As Virgin and Malaysian are partners can I use Virgin miles to upgrade from economy to business on a Malyasian Airlines flight?
If possible how would I go about it?

Any help welcome.
Thanks.

Don't think it's possible, as the partner details for Malaysian only mention complete flights, not upgrades. However, it won't hurting asking Malaysian themselves, but you'll need to do this in advance as they have a minimum 7 day notice period.

Hi James,

Welcome!

Did you pay cash for the MH booking or use VS miles to buy your economy ticket? If you paid cash, then no unfortunately. VS mileage redemption tickets for MH Y flights can be upgraded with additional miles.

You can only use Virgin miles to upgrade an existing cash booking if it's operated by VS metal and ticketed in an flexible fare bucket.

Hope this helps..[:D]
