Gold Baggage Allowance?

Morning all....

Well, looks like I may be moving to DC for 5 months..... Due to cutbacks here at work, we can only go economy, which, I believe, is one bag up to 32KGs and one sports thingy (such as my mountain bike)

However, as I'm gold, do I get the Upperclass baggage allowance, which is 3 bags up to 32kgs, and one sports thingy?

The membership benefits on the Virgin website only takes you back to the various cabin class allowances web page...

Thanks in advance

Paul
PS: I'm not entirely sure how I'd manage to get 96kgs and a bike to the airport so it may become academic!

You get an additional bag but I thought econonomy was 23Kg not 32.

You do not get 'Upper Class baggage allowance' I'm afraid, you get an increased allowance, and the website *is* quite clear on this.
Baggage bonus: You're allowed one extra piece of luggage on flights to and from the US, Caribbean, Nigeria and Nairobi in each class of travel*. And for all other flights, you're given an extra 20kg above standard baggage allowances in each class.

All of this is to be referenced to this page.

SO, if you're in PE or Upper, flying on a 'piece' basis, you get 1 EXTRA (so total of 3 pieces in PE, 4 pieces in J) 32kg bag.
If you're flying in Economy (as you are), you get 1 EXTRA 23kg bag, so a *total* of 3 x 23kg bags.

If flying anywhere that operates the weight system (South Africa, Australia, Asia, Mauritius or Dubai), then you get an *extra* 20kg of baggage allowance, across all classes, beyond the standard amounts. (Link here)

Crikey - I really thought J was two pieces x 32kgs ... plus the extra for Au. Now I've just about managed three pieces of luggage before but four x 32kgs [:0].

Mind you, the no. 1 can shop [:w].
