MIA Golden Miles?

Just had a clear out of the old FC miles and snagged four Gs and a Z to MIA.

Now, I'm hoping we've been terribly cunning here, but the Z has been booked for mdvipond jr., who'll be 3 by the time we travel, which meant saving ourselves 25% on an adult fare. I'll be turning Au after our Barbados jaunt, so I'm assuming I should be able to set up a family account and benefit from jr.'s miles for the MIA trip. Have I got this right and, if so, how many miles should I get? 75% because that's what she's paid, 100% or, since I'll be Au, 150%?

Ooh, I'm such a greedy little mdvipond...

Erm, subject to correction from someone who will probably know a lot more than me this link suggests that mdvipond jr will not be earning you any miles [:#]

On the one ocassion that we did this (in 2005) our 2 year old (at the time) daughter earned 100% of miles in Y through the family account even though we payed only 75% of fare.

We paid for her fare and redeemed miles for ours for the same reason.

See here for details.

From FC Gold Benefits
A Family Account, enabling up to six members of your household aged between 2 and 17 years to earn miles on qualifying Virgin Atlantic flights.

Hmm. On the VS website it says children between 12 and 17 but on the downloaded form it says between 2 and 17.

Family Man obviously has first hand experience of this and so I will bow to his superior knowledge and also apologise for putting the heart crossways on you, mdvipond. [:#] [:#]

My sister (who is under 12) is on my family account and has earned 100% of the miles flown but no bonus. So, for our trip to JFK last year she earned 5187 miles (which went straight into my account) and i also earned 5187 miles, but also 1764 miles for my Au bonus.

Thanks,
Sarah

If you try and scare we like that again, HL, I'll come round yours and put a bat up your nightdress [;)] Clearly a typo me thinks...

So, she'll get all the miles less the Au bonus? Not to be sniffed at, and £500 cheaper than buying the same ticket for me. Thanks all, you're too good to me. No, really, you are.

Now for comedy value, you need to teach junior to walk up to the LHR welcome desk with a note saying 'the older woman with me (mother) is my guest for the CH'.....

Here's an interesting one. If it was a D instead of a Z would junior qualify for a Limo?

Not suggesting the upgrade is worth it purely for a car, and the overall party is too large for a single car anyway, but if only D were available.

Gentlemen, those are both classics, heck you have G's, why not go for the cdc and put it in Jr's name ?

Very good, though, as the-now Mrs. mdvipond pointed out, it's much more likely to be a note reading 'I have no idea who the deuce this woman with me is. She's been following me since we got here and it's starting to really tick me off'. Yes, my daughter is Stewie Griffin incarnate.

I didn't really think it was worth looking into Ds - a return Z was £2.5K (adult fare) which struck me as pretty steep. It would have been interesting seeing how VS reacted to supplying a limo for a 3 year old though...
