Lon-Sin-Del-Lon versus individual sectors

Don't know how to phrase the title. Mods please feel free to amend it[:I].
I am flying to Singapore for a medical meeting on 1st October, returning on the 9th, and would like to see my (old and ailing)parents in Delhi prior to returning to UK.
My question is:
Would it be better to go LHR-SIN-DEL-LHR by VS (7317-A380) or LHR-SIN-LHR (VS) with a break in between SIN-DEL-SIN by Jet Airways?
I have searched for cheap UC fares (VS is actually more expensive than SQ on the Virgin website!). The best I get is BA, but I would rather fly VS or SQ and am dying to experience the A380[8D].

Also, should I wait for cheaper fares and risk losing the flights I want, or is it better to book right away? On Opodo, I see a direct UC(D)fare for 3000 (the Jet fare to Del would cost an extra 1000), and a multi-stop for 3460. The Lon-Sin-Lon fare will be paid by the company organising the meeting (not sure if they will go for the cheapest UC fare available!), the rest comes from my pocket.

[:?]
Any thoughts welcome.
Best wishes
Raj

Well, the first thing to consider (and the reason you're seeing higher VS prices) is that Virgin Atlantic don't actually fly to SIN at all. They codeshare with the SQ flight (which may well be cheaper if you'r doing an LHR-SIN direct return)

Thanks Preiffer. Virgin did work out cheaper than SQ on Opodo. I was wondering whether Z fares are available on this codeshare or do I have to go for a D fare. Also wondered if SQ did any late discounts.
