Jeans and t-shirt are fine.
Save your torso for the hot tub at the LHR CH.
Cheers, Howard

If you've got a purple boarding card you are free to wear what you wish [:)].

I was naked under my clothes in the CH...was worried about being found out the entire time but managed to elude the skin police.
As for what to wear, it's a shame anyone would have to ask but of course it would be:
* A clean suit of a sober stripe or dark solid
* A pressed white shirt
* One's school tie
* Shined shoes
* A smart bowler hat
* A boutonnire appropriate to the season in one's lapel
If you are a lady, I refer you to LSoM for advice.

Welcome to V-Flyer.
Agree with (most [;)] )previous posters, and would just add that you might want to have a look at
this recent thread, which has a similar theme.

Believe me, I am used to being the lone voice for dressing to travel. It's not done much anymore, but I still try to evangelize for a more proper way of life.
[:X]
But here I go on and on about proper manners and comportment and I've neglected to welcome harbow to VF, so -- WELCOME HARBOW!

Slipperman, be VERY careful about going OT, please. There are people here who would just as soon kill you as let you draw another breath when you do so. Watch your back -- and be aware of any red laser dots that appear on your body...
In fact, to avoid anything messy, I think what you meant to say above was, 'I like wearing clothes to the CH.' Right? Right.
And welcome to VF, Slipperman, even if you don't know sh*te about the footy.

I'm not one for being bitchy... [;)] and I'm sure none of the v-flyers have been in the LHR CH at the same time as me... but boy oh boy.
You would think there was a reverse dress code. [:p]
I expected high fashion, Jackie O's, even an Eddie Monsoon wouldn't have gone amiss. A little current style people, please.
What did I get? Well, all I can say is Primark must have had a sale on XXL tracksuits that week. [V] Bleh! I was wretching all the way to the Cowshed. [:o)]

I couldn't agree with you any stronger GJ - in my short time expierence of the Clubhouses, I have noticed velour track suit type things seems to be de rigueur at LHR Clubhouse these days. Perhaps you & I should set up a 'pressure group' to bing back style at 38,000 feet ! [:?]

It is indeed an eclectic mix of 'fashion' in the CH's - I do think there should be a 'no tracksuit' rule though. Juicy Couture whatever - it looks minging. Actually, a 'no sportswear' rule would be better - I think it should be decreed that wearing a football shirt whilst travelling should be a criminal offence, even the under 10's.

Richard,
I seem, yet again, to be agreeing with you today.
The title of the thread should be re-named Dress Code in London CH.
I do wonder if it has something to do with being able to buy entrance either through CH or at the dooor. Recently I had to wait for over 10 mins as the 'receptionist/hostest' processed payment for two of our tracksuited gues. I showed her both my purple boarding pass and gold card but was ordered to wait !! Which I did as she took payment for these guests to enter and 'feel at home' as her departing works to them rang in my ears ---- grrrr what I am doiug here then I asked ? 'It is a priviledge for you but they bought the right of entry!! ' Surely this cant be right ! Call me a snob but even in VH brochure it says something like smart casual - tracksuits it aint !! Grrrr

p.s. I should have asked if she was on a commission for payment entry

Please tell me the receptionist did not say that to you? Is good service really that hard to find nowadays. 10 mins is outrageous, and I would have simply walked into the CH - find me when you're not cocking about.

Richard - 10 mins may have been a slight exageration but she did - and believe me I did try and walk into th club house but she stood an yelled at me. At that point I became all British, stood where I was told and waited (rather embarrassed).
Next time I will (try) and be more brave . . . .a real Dragon she was/is, plus there was only one at the podium for a change !

All of you saying, 'I agree with you Richard' are to be saluted. Indeed, not agreeing with His Grace is tantamount to wearing a sign in Piccadilly Circus that states: 'I am a moron!'
Get smart...get Mannioned.
And yes, Hackneyguy, I would be well pleased to start a pressure group with you. Where should we apply pressure first?

Dress code only if you're a TA. You can find it in your RSS.
