It's the words 'FOR NOW' that worries the hell out of me in terms of VS. This IS the start of a very heavy rolling ball from my perspective - one that's only going downhill.
What I would say though, is that my 'loyalty' WILL switch to whichever carrier offers this LAST in the industry. [n]

I tend to agree. Pampering in the Clubhouse is one thing. The thought of having to sit in the same confined space with someone speaking loudly into their mobile phone is enough reason not to travel. It's bad enough on the train from Paddington to Reading, and that's only 35 minutes...

A good thing about doing a trans Atlantic...very hard to get service when your over the middle of an ocean.

I 100% agree. I've aready stated this about Emirates and the same applies to Virgin Atlantic. By all means run the airline down I say, I won't be on it so I won't care.

UUmmmm...actually when Mrs S had her work Sat phone it saved my butt..however you are right, it has no place on a plane.

I do agree Mr. Preiffer BUT recall this July 12, 2000
NY Times article, Business Travel; Oh joyous day! Virgin Atlantic makes it possible for passengers to use cell phones on flights. VS has had the mobile phone usage on board before (granted via the headset). I would think it could be a slippery slope to return, especially as demand could increase due to lower roaming fees.

I doubt this will be covered by normal roaming fees as there is a satellite in use. Neither OFCOM or the EU have much say in the costings for satellite use.
