JNB Experience

I'm not planning to do a Trip report, but I will post the highlights / lowlights here.

Outbound - 3rd April arriving 4th April
Left on time, usual 18a & 18C seats, on arrival into JNB luggage took 90 minutes to come off. No one was clearing the bags from the belt, so there were no new ones coming on. I started to stack the bags together on the belt to maximise the gaps, allowing more bags to come on.
Pirority Baggage not evident.

Inbound - 10th April, arriving 11th April

Despite checking in 4 hours before our flight, we were not able to get anything in row 18. When I got to the lounge, it appears the check in agent had been telling me some lies. For example, saying the seats were in-op due to the trays not working, which was not true.
What was true was the plane was oversold. With some UC passengers likely to be downgraded. I did see some people taken from Y to UC when the door closed. We pushed back an hour late due to Standby passengers and a mis count on the bags in the bin.
Landed at T3 40 mins late, baggage took another hour.
Priority Baggage not evident.

Edit : The JNB lounge was very good, and in particular the Ostrich Fillets were excellent. The lounge filled up, and the staff worked hard. Did n't see anyone else tip the staff. [V]

If you want to read about our trip to the Kruger and see some of the pictures, you can find them at http://www.markhayden.co.uk .

I can heartily recommend Njovu Lodge.

Doesn't sound like the impeccable JNB staff I have been accustomed to over they years.

In my opinion, priority baggage is unfortunately a lost cause[n]
