LHR-MIA: 747 Upper Class Q

We are on the above flight in August. There are 6 of us with my mum and dad. We did book row 17, 18, 19 A/K, as we thought we would be able to sit facing each other in a row of 3.

However when i have taken a further look, it seems there is something shaded inbetween the seats, i think it may be the beauty area, that i know wont be used anymore but it will be a block between the aisle.

Has anyone any knowledge on if there is something that would stop us being opposite and being able to see each other.

Thanks

Hi Catherine

If you take a close look at the seat maps - selecting A340-600, you will see that seats 8A through to 17A face a 'wall' and that 8G through to 16G face the corresponding K seats.

The herringbone configuration of UC on the A340 means you can face either the seat opposite or the wall - I prefer the latter as this affords greater privacy.

Therefore If a party selects row 11, the A seat will be facing the back of the G seat who in turn will face the K seat.

hope this is of help

Catherine, I am presuming you are talking about the 747, which I think is the aircraft operating the MIA route in August. The shaded area which you can see on the V-flyer seat maps is indeed the now-defunct IFBT area. As you can see from the VS website this area has gone - at least from the maps. Whether or not the seat still remains, I don't know and I think we shall have to wait until someone reports on that in a TR. In any case the partition where the IFBT was in the 747 was low enough for you to see each other over the partition

None of the IFBt areas have been removed yet, and there's no word on what will replace them. I doubt there is much they can put it its place on the 747, except perhaps a wardrobe.

Thanks everyone, we have changed to further up now. WE are facing the kidlets and my mum and dad are in the centre back to back with us.

Buns, we had the seats facing the partition wall to/from Chicago last week, they were brilliant, it was just pure luck as i didnt realise until we were on board. No stangers facing you.

WE just need to be able to see the children opposite us rather than at the side.
