I was about to cut & paste the article then remembered the spiel about copyright and not cut and pasting....

Summary is someone is saying VS052 from TAB to LGW was cancelled due to a fire...

Well the flight is cancelled according to the virgin atlantic flight tracker. No reason given

This was mentioned at the VROOM bash today by a staffer. Apparently the smoke alarm went off between TAB and GND, but don't think there were any flames, so probably just faulty equipment. A replacement aircraft had to be flown in from Manchester, I believe.

Sounds like a very expensive sensor fault in the luggage hold!

Sorry about the link.

The original poster reported a passenger saying 'The plane caught on fire!'.

This was expanded to say that they were told some luggage caught on fire and the flight has been cancelled. All pax put in local hotel(s) for the night.

Well this will certainly test the operation teams a/c scheduling as its already stretched to its limits.

Certainly will as G-VSUNs return has been delayed due to a strike to 5/6th June maybe even longer. Wouldn't want to be working in scheduling right now!
