Surprised this hasn't been posted (I did search!!!!) - EWR is to get a new clubhouse, it will be airside in the little satellite that VS uses and it will have a VIEW!
Apparently there are negotiations with EWR to have showers but no other lounge in EWR does and that's not guaranteed.

Maybe times aren't that hard after all then.
Good news that it is airside.

Thanks for that, Slinky.
I certainly hadn't heard about it.
I must say, unless there are reasons that force them to build a new lounge at EWR, I would have thought it would have made better sense to use any money in a 'new Clubhouse budget' to build one at an airport that hasn't already go one.
LAX, MIA, ORD or even MAN spring to mind.

I would imagine terminal space at both LAX and MIA is hard to come by. Or could it be that the rent is too much
And as for MAN, I think a simular VRoom concept is more likely if anything. I don't understand why VS don't use the AF/DL lounge at MAN, especially given DL link. Is it really worse than the escape lounge?

Word came in just before heading for my flight that it will have showers - which is totally fab ace wunderbar!

Interesting. I guess in the current climate it makes sense to invest in a currently successful route.
Thanks,
Sarah

I guess the cost of doing a new EWR facility is cheaper than building one elsewhere - airport rent and all that.
I do think they should build a VRoom concept at MCO, and then have a separate VIP section on an Upper Level for UC/AU pax. Now that would pay for itself. They could have ice sculptures, Cirque du Soleil upstairs, and the noise of clinking champagne glasses in the lower section. [:w]

I wouldn't be surprised if the VRoom at LGW is successful, then they will probably start looking at MAN. (obviously just my little opinion!)

No space at MCO. The only way is if DL move into the NW satellite post merger but wont happen as the NW satellite is the oldest so more likely DL will move in with NW.
V:Room at MAn must be going to happen surely.

So the new one is going to be after security huh?
I'd actually prefer to have it where it is to be honest, but that's just my selfish opinion! I normally get a friend to drop me off at Newark (I live just outside Philly) and bribe him with a free meal and drink at the clubhouse at the airport....but if it's going to be after security, I won't be able to take a guest for dinner and have some company before the flight. The VS night flight from EWR seems to be one of not many that depart from that satellite bit, and I've never had to queue at security - it never takes more than a couple of minutes from the clubhouse to the gate, so in that regard it doesn't matter whether its before or after security.
