Is it me - or are tons of the headphone sockets in LGW Y class really dodgy? I have done the LGW-LAS flight 4 times in the last year (all on different planes) - and every time mine only worked in one ear unless you physically held the headphones in the socket - and it was the same for everyone around me! .... oh - and i always tell the cabin crew - who are sympathetic - but not really able to do anything - which doesnt matter ..... I just wondered!

Are you using VS provided headphones, or your own? I recall that the VS provided headphones were not exactly high qualtity.

I've suffered from this in PE. If I kept my knee against the jack I could hear the movie in stereo. If I moved, it either went to mono or cut out completely. This was with my headphones and the VS ones.

I reported it and was told it would be looked at when they landed, but I do doubt whether these things are even written up.

Ditto this. My last 3 PE trips (LAS, MCO and MCO again were in seats with defective sockets (both with VS-provided 'phones and my own) [n]

Same here, we have complained several times about loose sockets in PE on MAN planes.

This is a common problem on the LGW a/c. Usually its the headphones we provide as there was a dodgy batch which are slowly working their way out of the system. So a new set often rectifies the problem, though sometimes it is the socket and if reported to us we write it up for the engineers to look at back at base. So if you do have a faulty socket please do let us know or it will never get fixed.

You think VS have problems? I flew back from SIN in June on SQ322 in what was then a three or four week old A380 (9V-SKD)and neither mine or my wifes headphone sockets worked. [n]

Still..... remember back to those 'good' old days when you had plastic tubes that the sound came down. Ear wax galore - eeuuuggghhh!

(in responce to earlier reply - I always use my own headphones, so its the sockets not the headphones causing the issue.)

Stange - I used to get this a lot but my last 8 or so round trips have been 100% OK since I bought my own headphones. Maybe the plugs on some headphones are more tolerant of slightly dodgy sockets?
