It is a little way off yet, but I might be taking my dog to the US. LAX would be the most convenient airport.
Has anybody here travelled with a pet on Virgin before ? Anybody know the approx cost ? I have googled a little and 975 is the only price I have found.
If travelling UC and not utilizing the full baggage allowance do you think Virgin would waive or reduce this fee ?

You'll need to call VS about
travelling with petsOn top of the normal carriage fees, you'll need to invest in a suitable crate and get the Pet Passport sorted too.

I can tell you it will be pricey.
My parents got quoted £750 one way LGW-MCO for each dog. This excluded buying the cage with the correct dimensions (around £200 each cage), pet passport and fees on arrival in the US. THat price was quoted about 18 months ago.
VS also do not allow animals to fly ex LGW during the summer months due to the amount of space the cages take up in the hold, I believe it could bet the same ex LHR in the summer months also.
You have to deal with VS Cargo, which IIRC, is actually operated by The Airplane Handling COmpany/Aviance handling agents, so not connected to VS. No sort of discounts is what my parents were told even though they wished to fly three dogs out.
