Seat Allocation on Online Check In

Apologies if this seems a daft question for all of you Virgin experts out there but I was just querying how the seat allocation works for online check-in. As I have never flown Virgin before (and am very excited!) I have requested 2 seats in PE on the upper desk. I am fully aware that the seats can only be requested and not guaranteed, however, when online check-in opens 24 hours prior to departure, can someone else nab the seats I have requested? Basically all I wish to know is, is it a free for all when you check in online making the seat selection a pointless task? Many thanks, Shula.

Hi and welcome to the site.

When you do OLCI, the seats you currently have pre-allocated will be still there for you and all you have to do is confirm them. The 'extra seats' that are available at OLCI stage are the 40% of seats that are not available for pre-selection, apart from the exit rows and bulkheads. The system does not just cancel every request and make the whole a/c available.

Virgin *may* still change your seats after you have done OLCI, but this is very rare.

No problem, and do have a good browse through the site and I would say that a read through of some TR's for your flight is a good place to start, always interesting to see what others have experienced and if there are any tips you can get.

Any questions you have that you can't see answered, just ask and I am sure someone will do their best to help.

Just to clarify on Neils point it is possible that when online checkin opens your seats may have already been changed by VS (to accomodate a family group or some other reason like they need adults to sit in the exit rows) however the seats should not just be opened up for anyone to take in online checkin.
