When should i start to worry about my tickets?

Ive booked a holiday with Virgin travelling to Hawaii. Im flying to LA on Virgin Atlantic and then have to change planes to Hawaiian Airlines.

My departure date is September 6th and as of today (9 days before we go) i havent received my tickets yet. I know on the virgin website it states that tickets will be sent out 'around 2 weeks before departure', but i am beginning to get a little concerned.

I dont want to phone them, get them to re-issue my tickets and then have the original ones turn up as this would just cause some confusion.

When should i begin to worry, and when, in your opinion should i contact them?

Thanks

Hi,
I wonder if you're travelling on an 'e-ticket' whereby you print your own ticket off yourself to present at the airport on the day of departure.I did the same for a holiday through VH last year.
I am sure there will be some experts along shortly to advise, but in the mean time don't worry about it.[:D]

BTW, welcome to v-flyer [y]

I dont think im on a e-ticket. I booked the holiday over the phone and only gave them my email address as part of my contact details. All other correspondences i've had with them have been through the post.

I would give VH a call now, it can't harm. This way you will know:

A) If your tickets have been posted
B) If they have, when they were posted. If it was say 2 weeks ago then there is a problem that you will be able to solve there and then. If it was yesterday then you know not to panic, and if you haven't received them in a couple of days to call again.
C) If not, when they will be posted so you are not panicking.

Giving them a call, should one way or another give you peace of mind

I think you will find that most, if not all tour operators and airlines are now 100% e-ticketed. IATA requested that all airlines and agencies move over to e-ticketing by June 1st 2008.

More info here

I've not yet seen a VH e-ticket so dont know exactly how it works, but I know they have been issuing them for a couple of months now.

Give VH a ring as soon as and see what they say.

Regards

It's an A4 print with all the relevant details that comes along with the itinerary, accommodation and transfer vouchers, etc.

Just fyi the package that they come in has to be signed for.

If it's scheduled flights, it'll be eTicket. Paper tickets no longer exist, so the documentation you're waiting for is basically for your records.

I always find VH really slow at sending tickets out - I sometimes get them for clients arriving only 2 or 3 days prior to departure - and they will wait until the 11th hour before sending a duplicate set. Don't worry about it - they will arrive eventually!

If you have your booking reference and can see your flight details on the VS web site, simply print of the itinerary as you see it there. It'll suffice for check in.

Oh how I wish this was true! The number of paper tickets I've dealt with at work for all the charter flights...a right pain! Does anyone know what the deal is with charter flights/airlines going to e-tickets? Is it all the same as schedule?

Another vote for giving them a call. I have only been on a couple of VHols but i recall not recieving the tickets until about a week before departure. I think they like to make you sweat after parting with your cash [:)]

Thanks,
