UC bargain to BGI

PostPosted: 29 Aug 2008, 14:44

Someone may as well get something from my misery. I booked UC Z class fares to BGI next March on the 20th Aug for an all in price of 6147GBP (2 adults,1 child 1 infant)which I thought was ok. I have just checked today and confirmed with premierteam that the price for exact same dates and flight for same party of 4 has reduced to 4192GBP.

To say I am hacked off is an understatement and of course as I was on a Z I can not change nothing.

Seems you may have broken the golden rule Iain, Once booked never look!
Think I'd be pretty miffed too.

If I had been caught out by a sale I could understand although I would still be miffed but there is not one. All VS would say is that they released some cheaper seats lower than z class[:?]

Ah well its only Money[xx(]

You could try writing in - I find that sometimes a letter or email can get a more favourable response...

Writing in about what? As they say in France - C'est la vie!

Whilst I agree to a certain extent Bryan, we are talking almost £2K here. I think if I were in Iains position, I would be at least trying something, even though it may well prove fruitless[:#]

This has come up before and IIRC the reply went along the lines of 'prices may come down as well as go up. Basically, tough.

Now I have got over the shock of such a big drop for no apparent reason I'm afraid that the nice girl on the premier team did explain it would be to no avail but If I wanted to of course I could write in. At the time when I booked I thought it was a reasonable price hence the shock at the difference now, but heh ho, at the end of the day you live and learn.
I dare not tell the better half though[:0]

Could this be something to do with the introduction on the new 'R' fare, bringing the price of the Z cheaper?

Iain.

WTF?!?!?!?!?

That's it. I'm going home. Too upset to carry on working...

Well, I'm home now, and - not surprisingly - I'm not feeling much better about things.

Checked on the VS website and, give or take a day on our dates of travel to BGI next year, we're out of pocket to the tune of about 4 grand between the five of us. Most upsetting. Wish there was a way to turn things around but, like Iain, we're all on Zs, so we're stuffed.

VS haven't done an UC sale at this time of year for Spring flights to the Caribbean in the 10 years we've been travelling there. I'm thoroughly depressed by it all. Rubbish start to the weekend to say the least...

I am glad (i) I booked UC through VH and (ii) I am travelling in April during the time when the 'sale' is not on.

Of course if you book through a wholesaler, quite often even the z's don't have to be ticketed straight away which means should a sale occur you can take advantage of it. I personally never advocate booking direct on an airline's site as I have come across this scenario quite often with other airlines in the past.

This thread is making me giggle. Wedged VS U/C travellers and Gold Card holders whinnying like big girl's blouses! [:w]

Yours (tongue in cheek)

I really hope it is tongue in cheek, Bryan, as I cant quite see how that comment is funny. Its sods law in full effect that something you bought has gone down drastically in price, and while the price was okay at the time for the individual buyers I do sympathise with their predicament and know I'd feel equally gutted.

Thanks,
Sarah

Sarah in my world it is called black humour. If it was me yes I would be gutted as well. I certainly would not gloat over the misfortune of others.[:0]

Have a nice day
