What are Miles Worth

Is it ever worth buying miles?
Are they value for money of you actually buy them?
I.e. are 19'000 miles worth 300?
I am guessing not based on special offer fares - but what monetary value would you give 19000 miles?

I guess it all comes down to what they are worth for you?
If buying 19'000 miles for £300 enables you to purchase an Upper Class return reward flight (so £300 plus probably another £300 in taxes) as opposed to having to purchase the fare with cash then yes that would be worthwhile, but probably wouldnt be if you are buying the miles for an Economy flight.
I cant see that there really is a set answer to your query as miles will have different value, and for us all, depending on what you want to do with them.
Thanks,
Sarah

I see your point. My partner is about 30000 miles behind me in miles collected and I was wondering if we should buy him some miles so that we are almost on a closer level so we can do the same thing when we come to redeem them...

The general rule when looking at miles is 2.5 cents per mile, anything under that is good, so yes 19k miles for £300 is good....However as Sarah states, it is down to personal choice, if it means your partner gets to fly in UC instead of PE or Y then you have to decide if it is worth it.

I wouldn't buy some just so your partner is on a similar amount of miles. Quite often I have found that even though Luke and I are on a different amount we have still managed to get what we wanted by being clever (upgrading an Econ fare with miles etc). Also remember that if you are short in one of your accounts you can use miles from both accounts to buy rewards, providing you split them equally in to at least a one way reward/upgrade amount.
If you find out you do need some nearer the time, the transfer happens immediately after you have purchased them so it won't delay you.

Did you mean 2.5p or 2.5c? 2.5c is about £250-£260 for 19k (give or take a few quid)
