VH Online Manage Booking system down?

Anyone know when the VH online manage booking system is coming back?

It was working last week but has been down since Friday, when you click the Manage Booking link you now just get this message:

**We're very sorry, the facility to manage your booking online is currently not available**

Just had to call to pay off my remaining balance and even using the FVC number, I still had quite a wait to get though to someone.

The FVC number no longer puts you directly though to the FVC department either now, it just puts you though to the normal call centre so at peak times be prepared to wait.

Regards

According to the DIBB, the online check booking was pulled a few days after VH reduced a lot of 2009 Florida holidays. People were amending their bookings causing the price to be recalcuated at the new lower price. The Call centres are really busy probably becuase of the amount of complaints people are making in trying to hold Virgin to their 14 day price promise, something they seem to be ignoring at the moment.

There are a few threads on the DIBB with this, EGG is on a few of them!

Its a shame the frequent Virgin is no longer answered in the UK. When will VH understand that the indian call centre is not fully equipted to deal with anything other than a basic enquirey.

Aside from the potential consumer benefit in this particular situation, I've never quite understood why any amendment causes a complete cost recalculation - with any FVC discount then being calculated manually and applied (?).

I added V-Room to my booking before my recent holiday, and it took about 20 minutes on the phone once I was through to the agent (who, just for the avoidance of doubt, was knowledgable and helpful); which was roughly the same time it took to make the booking (a custom 2 centre job) in the first place.

Even with different staff cost bases between here and abroad, it surely can't be efficient to have almost every change cost the same to make regardless of the nature of, and revenue associated with, the change.
