Have VH changed the baggage limit.

VS website states 2 cases 23kg each for Economy, but my recent invoice from Virgin Holidays states ' Please note the baggage allowance is now 1 piece at 23kg'.

When did this change, and does it only apply to VH?

Also I notice that you now have to stay a Sat night with Virgin holiday bookings. You used to be able to avoid paying OTT prices for a non discounted flight with VS, looks like that loophole has been closed [n]

Can't see anything immediately on the VH website, but given some of the very strange ways Virgin seem to be choosing to try and secure their future, who knows?

If you are flying on VS, then their baggage allowance is the one you should follow regardless of whatever is stated anywhere else.

But could that be a pre-empting of some change VS are about to make?

Where are you flying to Gavin? Some routes have a maximum weight allowance of 23kgs? Clutching at straws but perhaps someone confused this with 'piece'?

As others have said, go by what is on the VS website, as they'll be the ones checking you in.

Thanks,
Sarah

VH Baggage states 1 piece except transatlantic.
So 1 23kg piece would be correct for Dubai etc.
VA site agrees but does allow 2 for Nigeria & Kenya

OK. I feel a fool [:I]
Really sorry! I have just re-read my invoice online it states

'For all new bookings from 1 April 2006 revised economy luggage allowances apply on Virgin Atlantic. For USA and Caribbean economy allowance is now 2 pieces of luggage at 23kg per piece. For all other destinations economy allowance is now 1 piece of luggage at 23kg. Total dimensions (length plus breadth plus height) of each item of luggage is not to exceed 158cms. For all individual pieces exceeding 23kg, excess baggage charges will apply.'

So it has not changed - I just saw the 1 piece 23kg bit and went into overdrive!

If you only knew how silly I feel....

Isn't baggage allowances for transatlatic routes covered by some kind of legislation?
