I have enough airmiles to (according to the Virgin site) upgrade from premium economy to Upper Class. I want to do this next September flying out on 21st September and flying back on 5th October (both days are a Monday) can anyone please tell me
1. When can I book flights for these dates
2. How to upgrade using miles?

Hi Paula,
Can I suggest you do a quick search for 'miles upgrade' and select 'any date' in the 'Search By Date' box.
Hope this helps you now and in the future,
AC

the best way is to phone virgin and ask - if the seats aren't available yet they will tell you when to call. Good luck!

Hi Paula,
You can book 336 days in advance of your return flight, so you'll need to wait till early November to book. You can book farther in advance with Virgin Holidays but you wont be able to upgrade with miles.
You'll need to purchase an upgradeable fare in order to use the miles too, so S or W class. The easiest way to book this is to call Virgin as others have suggested.
Thanks,
Sarah

however, sometimes by the time you have paid for an S or a W class ticket, it might be more expensive than the cheapest Z (Upper Class) fare

Not unless there is a sale on - and that, unfortunately, is just a chance you take.
