Did Virgin used to have flights to Moscow?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Atl ... stinations

Because it say's that they used to under the previous destinations section.
I know that they used to have flights to, Athens, Nassau, Port Harcourt and Toronto but i've never heard of Virgin flights to Moscow

If its in Wikipedia, it must be true. [;)]

I must confess I can't ever remember flights to Moscow, and they don't get a mention in the history section, of our FAQ's.

Edit - there is a very old thread in the archives, which suggests VS applied to fly to Moscow, but were denied; and that the VS plane used to stop there en route to Hong Kong.

I remember someone telling me that some of the Narita flights used to stop in Moscow many years ago.

Even quite recently VS applied for Moscow rights (again?), but the CAA (?) felt that BMI put forward a better case so they got the rights. So 'quite recently' as in: whenever BMI started their service. Which I don't know.

I remember them talking about it many years ago, give me a few and I will see what I can dig up.

EDIT: Ok what I am finding from my rather limited records is that in '98 VS applied for Moscow and Cape Town, they were awarded Cape Town but not Moscow.

Ok, a little research turned up THIS

Thanks for that Dave / Tink. [^][y]

You learn something every day! [:D]

I must admit I gave up after half a dozen posts though, after the posters started telling each other off because their answers weren't accurate enough. [:I]

I'm just thankful my Nyquil orgy of the last two weeks has not caused any memory loss, I did a quick search of the A'net database and I can't find a picture of the 742 at SVO, but I know there is one floating around somewhere, oh well something for me to do tomorrow.
