PE seats upstairs/downstairs

From what I see on the MCO/LGW and BGI/LGW routes the up and downtairs PE seats are different - downstairs are the rounded top seats and supstairs are the square top ones.

Can anyone tell me if there is a benefit to either seat? does one have better footrest rise or space between seats etc? Booking my sister and family and want them to have the best flight out to BGI. I know the atmosphere and space in the bubble is far better but are the seats themselves in anyway different??

Go for the upper deck every time. Those newer 'plastic horror' PE seats on the main deck are not as good or as comfy as the ones on the upper deck.

The PE cabn is more spacious up there too, plus you have those handy side bins for extra storage [y]

I echo that. 80HK were great on my last LGW PE flight

Though my flights to BGI in May are on a LHR config plane, as was the flight my parents took out in November.

How far in advance did it become evident that it was to be an LHR config ? My booking for August is showing an LGW config, but Barnstaple warned me it might change. If it does, I want to be able to opt for window seats.

The whole row 81 and 82 A/C where good Premium economy seats when I flew back from Barbados,

When flying I like to have the bulkhead seats so I can rest my legs up against the wall in front when sleeping.

I booked sometime around Christmas and it was always a LHR config. Now if only they would shift the flight to LHR as well [:)]

did you know its a LHR config when you did your seat reservation on the Virgin website? I have heard that they've been using the LHR configs when they've been doing a shared flight with ANU out of BGI which they did a few times this winter. I've booked their seats now on the website in the bubble and it looks like the LGW config.

Another vote for upstairs my favourite is 79AC as you get the little table at the side an no-one behind you. If you want bulkhead you can get those upstairs too if they are available at check in

Didn't know until after I made the booking. As you can't preselect seats during the reservation process there's no way of knowing - possibly if you call FC, but I'm not sure about that?

Am still checking daily to see if it's been changed back to a LGW aircraft.

For me, I didn't know when I booked but when I had my VH booking ref the seat selection option gave me an LGW config. Like DAH I'll be checking the website periodically and hearing my grandma if I'm disappointed - 'never mind, worse things happen at sea'.

Oh dear, pjh! I've suddenly morphed into your grandma as they would be my thoughts exactly!! Any time I get the seats I requested I see it as a bonus and even before I realised seat selection was a possibility I was more than happy with the seats allocated.
