Sky News just reported that. Virgin Atlantic have introduced a pay freeze for all 9,000 staff, for one year.

Hmmm.
How does this fit in with the whole crew pay deal of last year? [:?]

Not surprising, I know a few people who have had pay freezes, including myself.[n]

I am sure staff would rather that than having no job. I know it isn't ideal but rather have a job than no job (for the time being!)

Absolutely agree, DMB - BUT...
That was the argument in the first place (about the pay deal) - wouldn't you rather be employed, etc etc. And the crew still decided to reject the original offers. Instead, they agreed (with the unions and VS themselves) a pay deal for the next X years - a pay deal that included contractual increases.
So, I guess (hope) this will have been passed by the unions. If not, there could be (ridiculous, IMHO) fireworks once more... [:?]

Now come on Paul, lets not talk logical and common sense here....[:w]

Given the present climate they may consider themselves lucky that it is a freeze and not a cut! It is good to see that this will apply to ALL staff including the senior directors. [^]

Since this announcement I haven't heard a single crew member complain about not getting a pay rise this yesr. We're all aware of the current climate and just glad we still have our jobs. So there certainly wont be any fireworks apart from on november 5th!

Dunno what our pay deal brings this year... but a pay freeze would be fair considering that we've just made 60 odd people redundant.

[y] to the crew that have posted here, I just pray that some of the more, shall we say radical members off staff understand the situation and keep quiet for once.
