Just seen an offer on Virgin for LHR-SYD in UC for 2000. Has it ever been this cheap before?
2000 for 20 tier points, and 37,000 miles can't be bad.. Tempting!

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/sp ... sssale.jspJust matching other offers that are out there but even so, 2k is a fantastic price. I think I've seen Quantas and Emirates doing this, I guess more would've followed by now.

Now that is exactly the sort of fare I was holding out for, and unfortunately I have a meeting that will go on until gone 10pm, so no chance of booking it !

Quantas
QANTAS is an acronym for Queensland And Northern Territories Air Service. Hence the lack of the U in the naming. Darn grammar teachers for forcing the 'if Q then MUST have a U following' rule.

Cents per Mile is still a bit high for a mileage run. But would be a great fare if planning to go to Australia anyway.

Ben,
I know I can do PE for around 499, which nets 6 points, so a 2K OZ fare would equate to 4 PE trips and 24 points.
I need 18 to renew my Gold by Feb next year, so what other suggestions do you have ?

ukcorba,
Oh go for it! From a TPs view, it is a great fare. I was thinking miles. BUT do spend some time in Sydney. It is a great place.

That's a great fare - lowest I had seen before on that route was 2299.

Pedantic as ever on here, one reason why I hesitated paying to join up here for so long so thanks for that [:w]

Yes, some of us are pedantic on here - that's why we don't allow text speak, and try and maintain certain standards.
I am sorry if this upsets you, but when people come to sites like ours asking for information; it is probably better if we try to be accurate, rather than 'near enough'. [;)][:D]

Well, I've spoken to her indoors, the challenge is to find somewhere the kids can be stored, whilst we go away for our third trip this year.
If I can get a reward seat + sub 2K one, it's a go.
I realy must stop surfing this site when I'm supposed to be participating in a conference call.

Just think of where you might be in siz months, and ask yourself if your time is better spent on concalls, or booking vacations [;)]

As TP runs go, is it a winner?
LHR - SYD UC return
20 TPs for 2000 = 100 per TP
LHR - JFK in current Upper sale is just > 1000 for 10 TPs, so is about the same price - give or take a small amount.
Current SIN - KUL in Business is 6 TPs for c300 = 50 per TP, BUT there is the small point of getting to SIN or KUL in the first place, which will generally mess up the per TP maths.

Depends on how attached you both are to the little cobras but there may be some cheap deals to a certain country just south of the good old USA.

It's done, found a 10 day slot where a revenue fare and mileage fare matched.
3 days / 2 nights in Hong Kong. Rest in Sydney.
As the flight was split, the revenue fare was around 14 pounds more expensive, but does get into Hong Kong earlier.

What a steal, I've just bought my ticket for sooooo much more. If it had covered Feb 2010 I think my husband would have divorced me on the spot! Can't see it going any lower but just in case anyone do matrimonial law?

Ohhhh! If only I wasn't so committed flight-wise over the sale period.... A trip to Oz would have been nice

Doesn't upset me when it's a fundamentally important issue/matter etc. I'm going to bite my tongue and say no more and just be happy

This fare is a good un but typically it's Virgin reacting to other offers that have been running for quite a while now, I do find VS are rather reactive with their sales and decent offers these days.
