Silly reward voucher question?

I've got two Econ>Premium Reward Upgrade vouchers to use before March 2010. When looking at the reward seat availability on flights using 'spending miles', should I just be checking for PE availability?

I know it seems obvious but so many different rules usually render vouchers worthless...

Thank you. [?]

(They're the vouchers where an Economy Reward is upgraded to Premium)

No - technically there needs to be availability in both T(economy reward) and U (PE reward). It's easier to look for the PE reward availability first and work back from there.

I may be wrong, but I thought there only had to be U availability. [:?] That's how VS explained it to me anyway.

I was told the same by FC, the reward availibility needs to be in U, as that's the class you will be flying in. Y has no bearing on the reward.

Thank you all, I'll start by looking for U and then see if they'll let me use them!

It will probably be easier to phone Flying Club to go through the details, get them to check availability & do the booking for you. I treid to do it online but couldn't find where to input the voucher. I could see the Economy availability but not the PE.

I've just used our Amex upgrades & were advsied by the UK call centre that these were not 'Reward Miles' upgrades, but 'full fare' Economy upgrades.

In the end, I had to get a supervisor to read the Credit Card T&C's on the VS website to get it confirmed.

You can search for U class availability on line here but you will need to phone FC to book the upgrade. For PE availability select spend miles and set cabin to Premium Economy.

There only needs to be U availability for you to use the AmEx PE upgrade voucher.

When I used one (the Amex voucher)a few years ago I was told that I needed both availabilities.

I think the rules have changed. When I first enquired about using one I was told the same, needs to be both T & U availability, but then after speaking to people on here was told only U, so I phoned back and after much discussions it was confirmed that there only need to be U seats available to use it.

It does make sense really as you will only be occupying the PE seat so it is just removing a Y reward seat for no reason.

Thank you everyone - I'll confirm it's only U availability that's required when I get to book shortly, (when SHMBO allows it!).
