Good afternoon oh wise and benevolent gurus. Just a quickie:

Can I use BMI miles for one leg of a reward flight and FC miles for t'other? And, if so, how do I book it?

I don't see why not.

You will need to book a one-way reward fare via BMI and t'other one way reward fare with VS.

I believe the answer is yes. You will have to book it as two separate one way flights though, which is something you can do with miles.

The VS leg you will have to book through Virgin, and to use your BMI miles you will have to book direct through BMI. Probably best to get some flights on hold before completing one of the transactions to ensure the availability is there.

Cheers chaps - nice to have one's optimistic assumptions confirmed.

Neil - will VS put a miles booking on hold for a short while then?

Yep, if there are G's available they will put them on hold for you, usually for 48 hours, but you can usually extend that another 24 hours if you ask nicely!

Ummm - I don't think you can EFFICIENTLY...

I MAY well be wrong, but I was always told that bmi miles can only be used to book a RETURN flight on VS. (no one-way option at half the price on non-*A carriers, I believe)

As I say, check it out, but I distinctly remember it being the case a while back, along with not being able to do miles+cash on non *A.

Looking at the Diamond club 'ways to spend miles' section on the BMI site, it does state that one ways are allowed and will be charged at 50% of the miles, although the placing of those terms doesn't make it clear if it is just for BMI & *A bookings all for all partner bookings, so I suggest giving BMI a call to clarify.

On the BMI website here it states:

quote:8 One way journeys are permitted and will be charged at half the number of miles.

Now this text is above the partner airlines table so not sure if this only applies to BMI or *A flights or not.

That relates to spending on *A metal Neil.

Obviously the best way, mdvipond, is to call DC and check - but despite several peoples' optimism above, I fear it may be misplaced...

Rats. You're right Paul; round trips only on VS with BMI miles. Personally, I blame Neil.

Time to re-group and try this one from a different angle...
