Me three. Disapointed to see that Orlando is not included for Upper again and that this is still not going past the end of the year. Oh well.

So this is the 'massive birthday sale'???

Sorry, but 'pathetic' can be my only response if that's the extent of it. [n]

'Pathetic' is too generous a word to describe it. [V]

Is this it ... [:?]

No great Flying Club offers, 2for1 with miles, etc.

And the sale fares for UC have been in the system for a while ...

No imagination at all [V]

Really disapointed[V], I've not got anything booked yet for this year was hoping for a birthday treat.

I was also hoping for something massive, even if it was for the 22nd only, such as - back to 1984 prices or full availability for mileage tickets. I have been telling by friends to keep an eye out and was arranging to check the website early on Monday morning disappointing.

Very disappointing. The sales fares are not even that good. I was hoping to see a sale rivaling that of BA's latest offers.

Thanks,
Sarah

Looks like the 'Sale' has joined the other cuts.

My sentiments entirely. [n][n]

If they want a cash injection to help them through the hard times, they must try harder.

Could this be a teaser and there is more to follow? If not I agree with everyone else this is not the exciting birthday finale I was expecting.

It's hardly a teaser imho.

They certainly aren't matching BA or Singapore Airlines.

The SQ sale on the otherhand....

Singapore - 295
Bali/Manila - 319
Bangkok - 329
Christchurch - 359
Auckland - 369
Sydney/Brisbane - 399
Melbourne/Perth - 389

All including taxes. - http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/c ... lPromo.jsp

Indeed. I can go half way around the world to AUCKLAND with SQ for *less* than I can go to bloody Vegas with VS!

Although, if VS don't have the need to tempt pax and increase income by reducing fares, perhaps they are in not so bad a shape as those carriers that do.

Perhaps saving on the gin and chocolate treats will keep the finances steady.

I don't know - removing the gin has tested my loyalty severely [:w]

Is there any link between the complaints about VS cutbacks and complaints that their fares aren't low enough? Strange that comments about both are running side by side...

I've been holding out booking a ticket as I was sure Virgin would do a fabulous sale for their anniversary but I too am dissapointed. I wanted to fly to LA in PE on 28th Aug return 13th Sept. LA isn't even included in the sale!

Cheapest i've seen my fare is 842 M+M, I'm considering booking that now as I don't see it getting any cheaper. Do any of you V-flyer wise ones think I would get it any cheaper if I hold out? ( asking you to see into the future, i know but just wondered[;)]

I wouldn't use Miles & Money. I don't actually understand Miles & Money, as the saving is slim and you don't earn miles afaik. Or Tier Points. Without M&M it's 905.60 you'll get 13,622 miles and 6 Tier Points. Or 875.60 if you can tweak your dates.

That pretty much sums it up, a good M+M fare is a rare thing when you stop and do the research.

Yes thinking about it M+M does not save you too.

I've just called Flying club to see on the off chance if there were any Economy seats available for upgrade as me and my friend both have 20,000 miles each. I had checked a few times over the last few months but none were available. So I was very surprised when I was told there were seats available for the dates and times I requested.

696 each, happy with that price so we took the plunge and booked. Yey! [:D] after all air miles are for spending [:D]

I've heard that Virgin have cut out the first drinks round before the meal, is that in Economy only or is it in PE too?

That is a valid point, but my feeling of disappointment isn't really about the level of fares, it is the destinations that are included.

I wasn't really expecting a sale to end all sales, I just wanted some decent PE fares to destinations like Miami, Boston & SFO.

It is always a fine balancing act, but I get the impression that VS need an injection of cash to help them ride out the current squeeze.
There are fewer businesses paying top dollar for premium seats, so why not try and get some more bums on seats for later in the year on the NYC / SFO ?LAX routes?

If I book now for travel in October / November / December, VS is sitting on my cash to help it pay the bills.
