A340-600 MIA-LHR UC Seat Selection

Finally got access to check seats etc online for next flights and we have been allocated 8A and 9A inbound (747 outbound and happy with those seats) but I believe this is near a bassinet position. Unfortunately 2-6 A and K inclusive already booked out but remainder fairly open. Prefer seats next to each other and not facing anyone else so would we be best off changing to 15 and 16A or will we never get any sleep this close to the bar?
Thanks all

You are right about the bassinet position. Could you not move yourself up to around 11/12, so further away from that, but not as close to the bar? Of course, there might not be a baby on board so your current seats could be fine!

At the moment on the majority of the 600's, the bassinet position is unusable until work is carried out by engineers. This means that babies could be anywhere in the cabin.

Thanks both - have moved to 12/14 - just in case. Difficult for us to judge as we have never flown UC on LHR route (or UC in a 340) but our favourite seats on the LGW 747s are the first two on the left right near the bar as we have never (yet) found the bar area to be busy plus it's the widest part of the cabin and so feels more spacious - difficult to tell what this area is like on an Airbus.

Maybe
this picture might help you visualise where your seats are.
If it is 12/14A that you have - I think they are good seats. You are facing the wall and just far enough away from the bar/wardrobes/toilets so they don't become a nuisance.

Thanks for that info Tink. We are in 10/11A for our MIA trip and I was a bit worried about being too close to the bassinet position, but as babies are specific to that area currently then I won't worry about it too much.

On my last flight a baby that was in Premium managed to annoy all of PE, Upper and half of economy as it screamed stupidly loudly for half the flight - there was no escape! [xx(]
