Hi All,
does anyone have experience of the the shared Lounge at McCarran International? Can't seem to find any details on the net.
Many thanks in advance

It's ok, nothing amazing, just a general shared lounge, snacks etc.

It is years since I was at McCarren, but that is the first I have heard of golds not being able to used shared lounges. Is it new?

The page in Nick's link does say 'Upper Class poassengers' with mentioning AU specifically, but they should allow AU. I know the LAX lounge does.

I thought it had always said that for shared lounges, Darren. I haven't had a problem in the past using a shared lounge as a gold, but then I have only used LAX, ORD, MIA and BOS (before the CH opened). [?][?]

I used it in February flying UC on an upgraded W ticket. I'm pretty sure Golds can use it, but you can't take in a guest.
The lounge is okay , as mentioned earlier. A few snacks, plasmas, comfortable leather chairs, decent loos etc... not as nice as the LAX shared lounge, but a nice calm haven compared to the chaos outside with the slots and noise.

Hi everyone, first post here!
I've used the shared Lounge at McCarran International five or six times, once flying UC and the others flying PE with a gold card. I had to ask for a lounge pass on one occasion as the check in agent was new and didn't realise that gold card holders can access the lounge.
I've taken guests into the lounge on 3 occasions while flying PE without a problem.

I've flown Gatwick/McCarran return 10 times in the last year as a Gold and never been given the Lounge access, even the sign above the lounge door says not for airline card holders

Have you asked, and been turned away, Penny?
I know from my own experience at ORD and MIA, that I have had to prompt the issue of invitations. IIRC, last time at Miami, there was no invitation, I had to show my card at the door.

I asked once, and was told no, that it was for Upper ticketed only, so never asked again

Thanks all,
hopedully will get in ok next month, seems strange about the number of different experiences; no access to AU holders, Access to AU but no guest, Access to AU and a guest. I'm hoping it's the latter!!
Dave
P.S Welcome on-board v-flyer antrichardson, thanks for the info

When using gold to gain entrance to the lounge at McCarran I've been given a written invitation for myself and a guest at the check in desk.

That could be down to the agents, I have found them to be...mmmm... inexperienced, yes that's a nice way of putting it, asking where my 'green piece of paper that goes in the passport is' while holding my green card in their hand type of thing, if in doubt ask for the duty manager to clarify things, the office is 10 feet away.

I had no problem travelling in PE and being AU getting access.
It's small but nicely decorated, basically like most US lounges, a few drinks and nibbles.

I have Vegas flights in November and December, maybe I should try again.
The last time I checked in 2 weeks ago at McCarran, I had printed off my own boarding pass so didnt use the check in desk as I only had a cabin bag. There was no mention of a lounge pass on there either. I must be just unlucky, lol

When you check in online, it usually says you will be issued a Lounge pass at check in, and as you bypassed that, this may be the reason why you did n't get in (or the invitation).

I only printed the boarding pass on my last trip, as they just started allowing you to do that, but all my previous flights I always used the check-in desks. So not sure why I never get an invitation. No big deal I guess, I just sit in the small bar by Burger King/Pizza and have a few drinks there instead

I was in the lounge earlier this year. I was on a BMI flight in C so my access was no problem but I was speaking to a bloke in the lounge who was on the VS flight in PE so I could only he assume he got in because he had gold status.
