Last Minute Upgrade

HI

Traveling to Orlando in a few weeks in Economy. Now I have enough points for an upgrade, but I am travelling on a Q Fair. So I dont think I can upgrade. My question is, if I check in using the Twilight Checking the day before, what are the chances of using points or buying an upgrade? Can this be done?

Thanks

Depending on the loading, you might be able to get an upgrade with miles of good old cash. Twilight check-in may not make a difference on avaialbility.

Best bet is to ask at the ticket desk (not check-in desk). You may be able to upgrade if you view the booking on-line.

Virgin appear to becoming much more transparent on upgrade prices from LGW.

See this page on the VH website, for prices of upgrades offered to their customers.

Not flown from LGW in many years and don't know if these prices are the same for people who haven't booked through VH.

Good old VS...harnessing the power of the World Wide Web. And showing their LGW pax how much they care, at the same time.

Won't the OP have to pay to get out of the Q fare bucket into an upgradeable fare bucket before using their miles for the actual upgrade to PE?

I'd phone VS to see how much it would cost and if there are any upgrade seats available in PE - no point in paying to get out of the Q bucket if there are no seats in PE.

Yes, if they wanted to use miles. But I think most of the posts were pointing to just the standard cash upgrade charge, or the on the day upgrade prices at the airport.

Also, there have been occasions where people none upgradable fares have been allowed to upgrade with miles at the airport. I think the phrase used quite often on here is 'at the airport, all bets are off'.

This may be a little off topic, but we have just returned from 2 weeks in Orlando and flew the cheapest fare with BA (Was 319) and at OLCI we were offered WT+ for 80 each! Naturally we jumped at it - so even the kids got a nice seat for one!

Indeed this seems to be quite common practice by BA. I was offered an 80 upgrade to WT+ at on-line check-in on a recent trip to JNB.
