Currently thinking about leaving MCO-LGW on Christmas night. Upgrade to PE is $300 O/W online. Worth it for the LGW fleet? Saw they haven't upgraded their PE seats yet. What are the typical day of departure upgrade fees at the airport nowadays?

The standard UK East coast US airport economy to PE upgrade is 199 (~$317), so that seems a fair deal to me.
Very occasionally, I've seen VS offer PE upgrades for as low as 150 but that doesn't happen often.
Flight loads can be quite low around Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so airport upgrade prices might not be as good.

You have to decide if it sounds good value for you. The risk is, things will get more expensive or sometimes less. So, if you delay, and risk, you may lose ... or win. No one can tell you how to play these scenarios ...

agreed. just wondering what peoples experiences were in PE on this particular flight. I think 300o/w is worth it to me. Ive heard some gripes about the dated-ness of this end of the gatwick fleet. I think Im going to end up pulling the trigger for the MCO LGW direction and see if i can get one of the PE seats in the bubble and suck it up for the way back. i don't treat myself too often, but theres a first time for everything!

if you really want to treat yourself, do it now. might be a bit of a 'grrr' moment if there are upgrades avalible on the day at a better price but you don't know, christmas is usually pretty busy.

There is always a chance that the two flights that evening are consolidated if loads are very light, so if you want to be sure of the paid upgrade (rather than negotiate at the airport) then I would pay up front.
Is it worth it?? Again, if loads are very light then you could find yourself with a whole row in Economy and that's a lot more space than PE[}:)]

In terms of the PE experience, given the choices at the moment, and having done PE ex LGW and PE ex LHR this year, I prefer old style PE seats in the bubble to new style seats downstairs. The 2x2 configuration gives a feeling of space and not being crammed in.

I've heard of friends getting one way upgrades for 125/150 for Y>W in the last 2 months.
