We traveled from LGW to LBA yesterday, the queue for security was all the way round past the VA check in desks and ended somewhere around where the entrance is from the Hilton walkway.
There was no obvious reason for it, what happens for UCS pax at LGW do they just tag on or is there any priority at all.
I heard the reverse of 'I pay your wages', one guy asked if there would be any compo if he missed his flight and that it really wasn't good enough, the security guy answered 'You really have nothing to complain about as security is a FREE service' his answer ( and mine in my head )
was actually I don't think its free, the guy just said 'Whatever' and walked off[V].

When Gatwick was under BAA Control (which I think has now passed[:?]) there was a Fast Track separate entrance for Business Class passengers which for VS extended to PE Passengers. I have not been there recently, but would assume that the facility still remains.
I do know that there is also a security channel on the upper floor which is often the quickest way in[:w]

The last time I flew from LGW (with Ryanair [:0]) I was directed to the security channel on the upper level. Quick and hassle-free.

Pretty normal at Gatwick in my experience [V] And the Fastrack that is supposed to open at 7.30 never seems to be open [V]

True. The past two summers we've flown out of Gatwick with Fasttrack access - and neither time has it been open. That said, in both instances it took under 5 mins to get through the normal security channels (at about 7.30/7.45 am)
