Hello - first post from me.
I am flying UC for the first time returning on VS002 in December. Can anyone suggest best seats for a couple - although we are excited about flying UC, we do want to be able to see each other during the flight!!!
Thanks for your anticipated help.

Hello and welcome
Though hopefully others will pitch in with specific recommendations a good place to start is to use the
Seat Ratings feature. Even if the on screen rating doesn't include a comment, if a trip report is referenced that may contain detail.
All being well I'll be doing that flight in UC (first time too) a couple of weeks; I'll let you know how the seats I've selected shape up...
Thanks
Paul

Welcome to V-Flyer,
Everyone has different likes and preferences when it comes to seats and in the main there isn't a bad UC seat. It does vary depending on which a/c type you will be flying on also, and I am not 100% sure what operates the VS002.
I would suggest you both having a seat one behind the other, so say 9&10A, rather than being across the aisle. If it is a 747, then my preference is in the A zone, which gives a nice feeling of space, whilst not being too close to the bar. If it is an A346, then I would suggest, again not too close to the bar, but either 1-7K or 8-15A, as these face a wall rather than another suite so give more feeling or privacy.
Have a great flight.

Looks like a 60/40 A346/747 split according to 'Which Aircraft'. Our flights the week after next are both currently showing the A346.

There's been much discussion about this and its all about personal preference.
The general consensus is that as a couple its better to have seats 'spooning' rather than facing. On a A343 or A346 its definitely 5 and 6 K - I have taken this option and can testify that its a great location. Its good for privacy too (with the divider so you're not facing anyone). On the 747 some people like to touch toes in 12 A + K.

Also - you should be able to login and manage to your booking on the VS website to see what plane you're on and what seats are available for reservation (subject to change!).
Enjoy the flight; make sure you book into the LHR clubhouse for some treatments!! Don't forget a TR.

Thank you all for your replies. According to 'Manage my Booking' the aircraft is scheduled to be a 747 so I have decided to go for 17A and 18A based on the seat ratings - I do hope these will be good!
Unfortunately, we are only flying UC return from EWR, going over PE which we have enjoyed several times already, but won't be able to use the CH. Couldn't resist trying UC just once! However, based on what I have read, we won't be able to stop there! [:)]
Thanks again

You have two nice seats there! [:)]

Yep they are good choices, nicely situated in the A zone which should be nice and quiet to help you get some sleep.

The A zone on a 747 is my favourite of any of the UC areas on Virgin. Those seats are in a good spot. One oher thing I'd mention. If you can get to a computer whilst you are away I would do the online check in as near as 24 hours beforehand as you can so you can 'take' those seats. No guarantees, but it improves your chances. I've had an occasion where I left OLCI a bit late and when I came to do it my seat that I'd had reserved for months had gone and when I got on the plane someone else was sitting in it.[n]

I recently discovered this on the VS website:
quote:
Please use our 'Online Check In' facility, within 24 hours before your flight departs, to reserve your chosen seat. Where you have pre-assigned a seat online, check in needs to be completed no later than 13 hours before departure time to enable us to honour this request.
You must have missed the cut-off point.
