Baggage allowance dropped 30% and no power leads!

Signs of 'progress' here, Virgin are dropping the per-bag allowance from 32kg to 23kg (with a charge of 30 if you go with a 24kg+ bag), and I also learn that they are stopping laptop power leads even in Upper Class. What gives! How much can it cost them to provide a bag of laptop plugs?

One effect of this will be where I usually travel UC with 2 bags, I might have to spread the load to 3 to get the bags the right weight (or pony up an extra 60). How can that be in anyone's interest? (Imagining me try to wheel 3 bags at once)

Grr.

I agree about the 32kg limit - we managed on several occasions to fly with 1 bag each. The new allowances only applied to tickets issued after 25th November. I'd be interested to see how they're going to police it for the transition period. Especially as you can book 330 days in advance...

There is a long thread hereabout the new baggage allowances, it starts with the changes that were due to be implemented on the 23rd September, but moves on the new ones from the 25th November.

And, there is a thread here about the removal of the laptop leads.

I think the general opinion is that the new rules do not benefit the pax at all, however much VS try and say they do, but they are just a sign of the tough times, very much like BA now charging for selecting seats.

As Neil says - extensively discussed elsewhere so will lock this thread. [:)]
